The Meaning of Merey
Merey is more than just our name - t’s a direct connection to our roots. While the rest of the world knows it as the cashew fruit, merey is a uniquely Venezuelan name, deeply tied to the land and our culture nationwide.
The fruit is native to the Bolívar state and the Guayana region, the same region our family calls home, representing the traditions, distinct flavors, and family memories that inspired us to open our doors here in Highland Park.
Born from a Craving
The idea for Merey started at a family gathering when we realized there wasn't a place nearby to enjoy authentic Venezuelan food.
Instead of waiting for someone else to bring it to our community, we decided to do it ourselves.

Our goal has always been to serve authentic Venezuelan food. Every dish is prepared from scratch each day using family recipes.
​Today, Merey remains family-owned and operated, and every meal we serve is an invitation to our table.
